Vegan Conchas with a Whole-Food Twist 🌱
Conchas are a staple of Mexican baking — soft, sweet, and beautiful with their signature topping. They take time to make, but the tradition of gathering with loved ones and enjoying them warm is what makes the experience so special.
A Twist on Tradition
This year, we decided to make our conchas vegan and add a little extra cariño. We used sweet potato in the masa, giving the bread a natural softness and subtle sweetness.
But the real star? The topping. Instead of artificial colors or flavors, we made ours with nutrient-dense superfoods.
Superfood Toppings
The colorful topping isn’t just pretty — it’s packed with benefits:
🌱 Coconut-based blend full of electrolytes to support hydration
🌱 Beet-rich powder that helps with circulation and stamina
🌱 Creamy plant protein that supports muscles and keeps you fuller, longer
🌱 A balanced mix of greens, fruits, and fiber to nourish from the inside out
These are ingredients you feel good about — proving that even a sweet treat can be elevated when made with whole-food nutrition in mind.
Try It Yourself
Everyone has their own favorite concha recipe — so use the one you love most. The twist? Try making the topping with superfoods instead of food coloring. The result is both delicious and nourishing.
We make them once a year, and every bite is worth the wait. 🍞💛
